  • Edinburgh Apartments City Central Our friend Ian Anderson of Edinburgh Apartments City Central is offering very central one bedroom and studio apartments in the Old and New Towns. Sleeping 2 or 3, all are ground floor and come with free parking. Abbeyhill Crescent is situated at the very foot of the Royal Mile, opposite the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Over in the Georgian New Town, Eyre Crescent and Dundonald Street are the locations for 2 lovely city apartments, both situated within 10 minutes walk of Princes Street.
  • House by the Royal Mile – with garaged parking Our friends Mike and Anne have a lovely three bedroom town house situated approx 75 metres off the Royal Mile and close to most major tourist sites. Awarded four stars for quality by Visit Scotland, the house has its own integral garage, two double bedrooms (both of which have ensuite facilities) and one additional twin bedded room which has access to a further bath/shower-room. Choosing business partners for 2012

We’re delighted that guests who have stayed at Sandcastle Cottage in Crail are taking advantage of the new wi-fi internet access there to book a return stay for 2012.

Next year will be our 20th year of offering self-catering holidays in Crail, and we’re delighted that bookings stand at 7 weeks and one short break booked already as we are just at the end of August 2011.

However, our aim is to extend our letting season beyond the central April to October bookings where we expect to be relatively well booked up.  So the thinking caps are on.

We have our advertising placed with two paid websites: Visit Scotland and FlipKey (which is a subsidiary of the worldwide review site Trip Advisor.  This week we applied to place advertising with another site and were turned down.  A business which turns away people who want to pay them money to do business must genuinely feel that they wouldn’t be able to attract people to our area so they’re being honest in turning our application down. This is not the first time we’ve come across a website which had this policy, but we’ve watched the other one slowly disappear…

So, what next?  How do we find a website which will attract more enquiries and hopefully bookings for our holiday cottage in Crail?  What criteria do you use when selecting a website to advertise on?
